Gerber Suspension Multi-Plier
Featuring an open-frame configuration, this multi-tool combines a sleek design with outstanding functionality. The Suspension features spring-loaded pliers and the patented Saf.T.Plus™ component locking system to lock the tools in place. Individual components include needlenose pliers, a wire cutter, a fine edge knife, a serrated edge knife, a saw, scissors, a crosspoint screwdriver, flatblade screwdrivers (small and medium), a can opener, and a bottle opener. Gerber has almost perfected an 'all around' multi-tool for the DIYer and outdoors person. The implements included were well thought out to include 'the must have' scissors. Price and quality are balanced tool. The suspension frame handle design makes it easy to identify which side of the tool contains which implements and the blade 'lock' feature reduces the potential for mishaps with sharp edges. I also like the 'butterfly fold' access to the pliers versus my older model 400 'slide out' action.
My only complaint is the design of the 'phillips' screwdriver blade. The 'flatened' design is needed to keep the blade width the same as other implements. However the 'cross point' slips on worn screws because it lacks full dimension 'flutes'. I never use this implement but keep a compact screwdiver or an older Gerber Model 400 multi-tool which have standard width tips with me to tackle 'phillips' head screws.
